THE TAKE AWAY: WHAT YOU WILL GAIN
There is no coincidence why great players are GREAT! They know what it takes to be the best and do what it takes to get there. For many players, participating in a regimented strength and conditioning program is the missing component to their overall development as a player. Coach Johnson's program is proven to improve your performance in 5 areas to help you gain an edge on your opponent next season.
1. Injury Prevention: Why is this important? Preparing your body for the demands of the season will keep you out of the athletic training room and on the court. Improving your resistance to injury is a product of numerous exercises such as joint stabilization, balance, neuromuscular control (coordination), proprioception, mobility and flexibility. All of which are training components you will experience over the time span of the clinic.
2. Strength and Power Development: Why is this important? Improving your total body strength is the foundation for improved athleticism. Explosiveness, Power and speed are all built on one determining factor...strength! Each component is trained differently, utilizing different exercises, movement speeds and rest ratios. Coach Johnson will teach you the basics behind the most common exercises to improve total body strength (upper, lower and core strength) and power production.
3. Speed, Agility and Quickness: Why is this important? Basketball is a stop and go sport. If you can't move well you will simply get exposed. All players must be able to efficiently sprint, shuffle, backpedal, angle-pedal and crossover in order to movement efficiently on both ends of the floor. Becoming fast, quick and agile isn't just about doing sprints or cone drills. Speed is an art form. Coach Johnson's, simple yet effective tips will help you understand the keys to improving speed with and without the ball in your hands.
4. Energy System Development (Conditioning): Why is this important? Simply, the best players are in the best shape. Fatigue is one of the primary reasons for poor basketball performance. Feeling winded or like your legs are jello will not be an issue next season with the conditioning drills you will take away from this program. Become a highly conditioned player without running long distances!
5. Recovery/Regeneration: Why is this important? Recovery is vital for performance, health and vitality. Recovering your mind and body is a crucial, important factor most players underestimate. Learn reliable and credible advice about how to set up an easy to follow nutrition plan. Additionally, learn how soft tissue treatment and flexibility training can guard against muscle soreness, tightness and tenderness.
